7 ways to become a morning person

There is something magical about the early morning.  It’s a time when the world belongs to only those few who are awake.

As a freelancer or influencer, you need to have some self-discipline if you want to work every day. It’s so tempting to sleep a little longer and then work in a bathrobe on laptop, enjoying your soft bed. I I must confess I used to wake up late. I noticed that at the end of the day I had little time to do. I finally decided to fix it.

Now I wake up at 7 am and do a lot more. During this time, I manage to work continuously without distractions (respond to emails, writing posts, editing photos). I’m really in a good mood. Apparently I’m more productive in the morning than in the afternoon or evening.

My goal is to wake up at 6 am, so I have EVEN more time and I can do EVEN more work in the morning. But how will I do it? How to become a morning person? And how can you try with me?

1. Go to bed earlier

I am what you call an evening person. Or a night owl. In the evening I am more active and I want to do different things; work, watching TV shows, surf the Internet, cleaning. His often results in me going to bed at 1 or 2 am. And consequently, I can’t wake up in the morning! It can be change, just in small steps.

For example, start going to bed at a quarter to two during the week, and not at 2 in the morning. Just fifteen minutes early. It may be hard for you to fall asleep. But once you get used to it, you will always go to bed 15 minutes earlier. Some people need more sleep than others, so you need to figure out what’s the best time for you to sleep. Either way, take small steps.

2. Wake up at the same time EVERY day

The only way to create a routine is to repeat it every day. So be strict with yourself and try to go to bed at the same time EVERY night for a week and wake up at the same time EVERY morning. Of course, sometimes you can go to bed later (for example, because you were drinking wine with your best friend), but in any case, try to wake up at the same time. Then drink an extra cup of coffee this morning. Repetition is the key to creating a morning routine!

3. Pay attention to what you eat and drink

Why and how much water for a beautiful skin?

Monitor your caffeine intake in the evening. It is found not only in coffee, but also in teas, Cola, energy drinks and chocolate. So try not to drink caffeinated sugar-sweetened beverages a few hours before bedtime, and instead drink a glass of water or a cup of herbal tea. This is much better!

High-carbohydrate meals and alcohol can also impair your sleep quality. Personally, I fall asleep faster after 2 glasses of red wine, but I notice that I wake up more often in the middle of the night.

4. Slow down

Since we are all very busy during the day, it is difficult for us to relax in the evenings. You’re in bed and you open Instagram, watch funny Facebook videos or reply to messages before sleeping. Then you put down the phone, turn off the light and try to sleep, and all those impressions that were a few minutes ago still flash in your head.

I myself am one of those people who answer a few emails before bed or on WhatsApp. I have noticed that this makes me sleep worse. It’s best to put your phone away about 2 hours before you go to bed. Believe me, this will give you more peace of mind. It also means no Netflix right before bed. Instead, pick up a book or spend some quality time with your partner. Take a hot shower or warm bath. Create an evening routine that works for you. This also works for babies and toddlers.

5. Put a bottle of water in the bedroom

Water – in the morning, your body is dehydrated because it hasn’t received water for about 8 hours. In addition, we sweat while sleeping. This loss of water can be supplied by a glass or a bottle of water in the morning. Since we have a cat, I prefer to put a bottle of water near the bed instead of a glass. After a few sips of fresh cold water, I feel more energized to get out of bed.

6. Put slippers and bathrobe next to the bed

I find it VERY hard to get out of my warm bed in the morning. I have found it helpful to have slippers and a bathrobe ready next to the bed. When I wake up, all I have to do is reach my hand out from under the covers to grab and put on my bathrobe and slip my feet into my slippers.

7. Find a reason to wake up EVERY DAY!

A GOOD reason to wake up is the fact that you have to go to work. Or because you have to feed your toddler. But waking up is better if you have another reason. Something that makes YOU a happy person.

For example, my husband (he wakes up every day at 6 am) enjoys a half hour of good rest before leaving for work. Drink a cup of coffee, plan your day and meditate. Try yourself to find a small moment of happiness in the morning. Start your morning with something that will make you happy.

I hope you got some good inspiration and motivation from my tips to gradually become a morning person.
