Beauty Tips – Dry Skin
Some time ago I decided to write a new blog series called: Beauty Tips – Сare for different skin types. You can read Beauty Tips – Combination Skin HERE. You can read Beauty Tips – Oily Skin HERE. You can read Beauty Tips – Sensitive Skin HERE.
There are five basic skin types: Normal, Oily, Combination, Sensitive and Dry. Your type is determined by how much or little of the sebum your skin produces. It affects you genetics, seasonal changes, medications, hormonal changes, stress and even sun tanning. It may change several times a year.
Test: There is a quick test that will help you easily determine what skin type you have.
Cleanse your face before bedtime and AFTER cleansing, do not use any skin care products and go to bed. When you wake up in the morning, blot your face with paper towels.
If you have dry skin, paper towels will show no sign of oil spots.
Skincare routine
- Dry skin doesn’t like too cold or too hot water. This leads to wrinkles. Therefore, it is better to wash with warm water using cleansing balms, milk or oils specially designed for dry skin. You should not use soap.
- Exfoliate once a week with non-abrasive products – Alpha Hydroxy Acid (glycolic acid, lactic acid, malic acid, citric acid, tartaric acid).
- Use an alcohol-free toner, because alcohol can dry your skin out even faster. Choose tonics with natural oils, which help to lock in moisture.
- Look for a hydrating serum with antioxidants.
- Use facial oils and creams, which are richer than lotions or gels (lotions more suited for combination or oily skin). In ingredients, look for glycerin, hyaluronic acid, rosehip or apricot oil, etc.
- The eye area is usually dehydrated, so buy nourishing creams for this delicate area.
- Always use with a sunscreen.
Makeup
- Apply a hydrating primer that will prepare your skin for perfect foundation application.
- Wait a few minutes and start applying a hydrating or anti-aging foundation. These products are best suited for dry skin.
- If you have dry skin, you can not use powder.
- If you use a creamy under eye concealer, fix it with a translucent powder.
- Bronzer with shimmer will add a healthy bronzed glow. And don’t forget about highlighter.
- Use cream blush.
- Сhoose a brow gel or brow mousse rather than a brow powder.
- Creamy eyeshadows suitable for dry skin.
- Do not use matte lipstick that will accentuate texture (flaky skin) on the lips. Buy creamy lipstick and lip gloss.
- Finish your makeup with hydrating facial mist for dry skin, which locks additional moisture into the skin.
What is your skin type? How do you take care of your skin type?
