From Idea to Reality: How to Start a Blog? 3 Easy Steps
Do you like cooking, are you fond of cosmetics or maybe interested in fashion? Do you like to take photos? And do you like to read blogs?!
Your friends or relatives probably told you that you need to combine your hobbies and love for blogs and be sure to start your own blog, show everyone your unique photos or maybe tell the world something new that only you know.
It’s actually very simple. Follow 3 simple steps in less than 15 minutes.
So let’s get started!
Three Simple Steps to Blog:
- Domain Name and Web Hosting
- Install WordPress
- Website design
1. Domain Name and Web Hosting
Choose a domain name for your website. Choose a few options and go to the Domain website to see if your chosen name is available. Click on “Domains” and enter the name in the field below:
If the selected name is unavailable then you will be offered alternative domain names. You can choose one of the options or try another name for your site.
Next, you need to choose a hosting plan. For a start, I can advise you to choose a Basic plan (click on “Web Hosting”) and as your blog grows, switch to another plan if you want. I still use the Basic plan and I like everything.
The Basic plan includes email addresses (100 addresses), $ 100 Google AdWords gift card to advertise your site, WordPress, Drupal, Joomla and more.
If you buy hosting from Domain (click on “Web Hosting”), you will receive a domain name for your website absolutely free.
After purchasing a hosting service, I also recommend that you buy a Whois Privacy Domain to hide your name, phone number and address from public access. On Domain, this can be done in the control panel.
2. Install WordPress
After you have completed the registration on Domain, go to the control panel to install WordPress on your site. WordPress is a blogging platform. On my site light-berry.com I also use WordPress.
It is very easy and simple to install. Logging into the Control Panel, locate the site builders and click on the WordPress icon.
On the next page, click “Install” in the FREE section.
Next, you enter the domain name, username and password to login your site admin panel. It’s usually https://yourwebsitename/wp-admin/
You will see the login screen as shown in the image below. Enter your username and password.
Congratulations and welcome to your new website!
3. Website design
At this point, you officially have your own blog! What do you feel?!
But before you start writing blog posts, upload photos, etc. I want to give you advice on how to make your blog beautiful. It’s time to choose a theme for your blog!
There are many free WordPress themes, you can choose your favorite one here.
But if you prefer a premium theme with support (usually within 6-12 months), then check out these:
- BeautySecret is the first theme I installed on my blog. I really liked her and I recommend it to you. There are also other great themes on smthemes.com.
- There are many good themes on themeforest.com. Here I bought theme that I use now.
Additional applications
AWeber is a blogger’s best friend for email marketing. It helps you effortlessly create and send engaging emails to your subscribers, track your performance, and grow your audience. It’s user-friendly and packed with features to take your blog to the next level.
MailChimp – Your go-to tool for crafting eye-catching emails, connecting with your audience, and growing your blog or business.
Shortcodes Ultimate – This is a large collection of different elements that you can use in post editor, widgets, and theme files. You can easily create tabs, buttons, sliders and carousel images, adding videos and more. There are free and paid add-ons.
As you can see, creating your blog is not difficult. Now you can begin to fill your blog with useful information. And I wish you success in this difficult but very exciting process!
P.S. I use all of the above and recommend it to you.
