There are five basic skin types: Normal, Oily, Combination, Sensitive and Dry. Your type is determined by how much or little of the sebum your skin produces. It affects you genetics, seasonal changes, medications, hormonal changes, stress and even sun tanning. It may change several times a year.

Test: There is a quick test that will help you easily determine what skin type you have.

Cleanse your face before bedtime and AFTER cleansing, do not use any skin care products and go to bed. When you wake up in the morning, blot your face with paper towels.

Oily skin has larger pores and acne.

Skincare routine
  • Wash with a cleanser formulated for all skin because cosmetics for oily skin dehydrate it and you can get opposite result. Your skin will produce more sebum and become more oily.
  • Exfoliate once or twice a week with a gentle scrub.
  • Apply a facial mask once a week containing clay or salicylic acid.
  • Choose toners with salicylic acid, which help to reduce pore enlargement. Use an alcohol-free toner, because alcohol can dry your skin out even faster.
  • Use an oil-free moisturizing lotion. At night, use a light face oil for oily skin instead of a moisturizer, this will convince skin that it doesn’t need to produce so much oil.
  • Eye cream is essential for all skin types. Oily skin needs hydration, not nutrition.

Rice papers also help a lot for oily skin! I have dry, sensitive skin but still a bit oily in the T zone. They’re handy and very helpful for a quick touch up 🙂 Thanks for sharing this helpful article!
